    Bristlenose Has Eggs!

Thanks for all the info guys. I went and bought a cucumber today. Everything is still pretty quiet in the tank. Dad hasn't emerged at all. I'll keep you posted.

    Bristlenose Has Eggs!

OK, time for an update. I went out and bought some new gear for the tank, including a new air-driven fry-safe sponge filter. I set up my 15 litre hospital tank, then moved the ornament and dad into the new tank. I stuffed a bit of mature filter media into the new filter. After a little while...

    Bristlenose Has Eggs!

Yes, that's what I plan to do today, once I get home from work. Unfortunately it isn't practical to move the tetras and platies, as my hospital tank is only about 15 litres. I'll be happy if just a few survive. I'll keep you all posted.

    Bristlenose Has Eggs!

OK, I guess I better set up my hospital tank as a new home for them, before they hatch. Too late tonight here now. I will do it tomorrow. Very excited. Thanks.

    Bristlenose Has Eggs!

Hi guys, I'm really excited. I have 2 Bristlenose I got together, but keep in separate tanks. Recently I put them in together, hoping they would breed. And they have! The male was hiding inside an ornament, and I know they do this when there are eggs, and I checked. There are about 20 nice big...

    Platies Dying Don't Know Why

I had a sick platy that I moved to a hospital tank. The symptoms were losing weight, a damaged fin (which seemed to appear overnight) and eventually just resting at the bottom of the tank. She was still coming to the top to feed. My best guess was that it was fin rot caused by a bacterial...

    60 Litre 'fishless' Cycle Log

Looks like you're on your way :good: You've got Nitrites quite early, took over 2 weeks for me. If your nitrites happen to go off the chart (if the solution turns purple in the bottom of the test tube straight away if you are using the API liquid tests), cut your ammonia back to about 2ppm...

    Tstone's Cycle Log

Hi TStone, Patience is the name of the game. It took me from 5 October to 24th November to cycle my 10 Gallon tank, including the "qualifying week" of getting 0 Ammonia and 0 Nitrites in less than 12 hours. I'm not sure if my case is typical or not, I think it's probably a little on the long...

    Dropsy?

Hi all, I have a 10 Gallon tank with 6 Danios, 2 Zebra and 4 Leopard.I have an internal power filter, and the tank has been cycled. Tonignt I noticed one of the zebras wasn't out and about swimming as usual. Looking around the tank I noticed it was down in the corner of the tank behind the...

    Fishless Cycle Question

Hi Guys, I'm very much a noob at fish keeping and have been lurking here recently. I'm about 4 weeks into fishless cycling a 38 litre tank. It took a long time for the tank to start processing ammonia, nearly 3 weeks I think, and then overnight it dropped to zero. So now I have ammonia...
