so the first time i tryed this post failed when someone started talking about making a hood out of legos lol. i was given a 20G tall aquarium about a week ago with a standard hood. im looking to put my extra plants in this tank for fast growth. in larger tanks good lighting is so easy to find...

so i just got a glass canopy and an extra dome. cant believe i just figured that out... lol

any link for a diy aquarium hood or fixture? 15W 18000k doesnt sound right for a tank as deep as a 20H. also... i thought 18000k was for corals,but it says on the package: for planted aquariums , do not use with coral???

how would i go about making one? im not set on the t8 bulbs i just have a lot of extra laying around.

I just got a 20H tank that has a standard 18' bulb. i would like to put all my excess plants in this tank with only shrimp and ottos. i have a few extra 18' t8s around the house (flouraglo, aquaglo, etc.) but i cant find a hood that will house 2 18' t8 bulbs. any ideas?

no i lowered the temp because of the ghost shrimp. plus it lowers the dojos lifespan to heat them past 76'F. i removed the carbon. it said on the product to use half dose for scaless fish. :good: i wouldnt skip a step or do anything to endanger my fishies. i have 6 tanks and been disease free...

ok i got tetra ick Guard. it claims you shouldnt raise the temp of the tank. and to add 1/2 a tab per 10usG for scaless fish. it also says safe for plants. AI: Victoria Green, Acriflavine. Do you know if these would hurt my fish? ... also... i forgot about the ghost shrimp being in the tank...

ive heard commercial ich meds hurt plants. do you know if thats true?

well the knife fish has passed today at lunchtime... worst day ever... i still need to treat the others right? they have no signs of ick but im still worried... 1st fish ive lost in a year and a half... this sucks...

I have a heavily planted 37G tank with ottos, apple snails, assassin snails, dojo and black kuhli loaches. a week or so ago i purchased a baby African Brown Knife (no more than 3") i put him in the 37 until hes big enough to be in my 75. i watch my tanks daily for any sign of disease or odd...

the tank is cylcing now and the shelf idea worked out perfectly... i picked it up off another forum. im trying the household ammonia idea for the first time. i think the cloudiness from the substrate will go away tommorow and i will plant all the plants i have now.

only 85?!?! wow... petsmart sucks. they said it was 150 Tall.. i used to have pacus in that tank. well my dads old saltwater tank has a small crack on the back side but its atleast double the length of my 85 though not quite as tall. if i can seal up the crack, maybe the length will help out...
