    Golden Pencil Fishy

Weird, I have ten, and they just wrestle each other shoulder to shoulder a bit. They (the males I guess) go almost black in colour when this is happening, but they don't bother any other fish.

    New Apisto's

Cool, but how do you tell? I looked through your posts, but I think your golds have red and black fins, whereas mine are pure orange... Check out the link for Agassizi's... Agassizi'a As far as I can tell, mine look much more like that than the typical "Double Red"... Bloody evolution... :)

    Telling Julii's From 3 Line

So no-one who bought Julii's actually got them... :) Not that it really matters as they look so similar I guess, unless they were v.expensive... I shall insist upon DNA testing in future though... :)

    New Apisto's

Yeah, I have my suspicions now :) Heres a better photo of mine, top image Pics The male is about twice the size of the female. Oh well. Agassizi's were my other choice anyway :)

    New Apisto's

Hmm they might even be Agassizi's? Agassizi Any way of telling definitively if they are orange Cacatuoides or Agassizi's?

    New Apisto's

Hehe, I was wondering who would notice that! They are stuffed full of bloodworms, as their first feed since they went in yesterday.. :) Thanks for the replies, Yeah, they are more orange than I was expecting, but that's fine.

    New Apisto's

Hi all! Well, I finally managed to track down some Apistogramma Cacatuiodes, and they are now settling down in my tank. Pic So a couple of questions for you guys... They were listed as "Double Red", but they look more "Orange Flash" to me, what do you think? The second question, would I be...

    Final Stocking

Thanks. I guess most here would recommend an external, but I quite like the Jewul, seems to work well so far. The water is good and clear, with the bio filter doing it's job. No half decent external will fit in my cabinet, so it would be on the floor next to the tank, not ideal. Re corys...

    Final Stocking

Hi all! So this is the idea for the final stocking of my Vision 180. Tank (LxDxH): 36 x 15 x 20 inch (177.0L) Filters: Juwel Compact H/Bioflow 6.0 + Pump 600 Selected species: [Edit Species] 11 x Neon Tetra (Paracheirodon innesi) 10 x Golden Pencilfish (Nannostomus beckfordi) 3 x Julii...

    Fighty Silver Tip Tetras

Absolutely, I just don't know why they are a terror in some tanks, but not in others. Maybe it's to do with stocking levels, tankmates, tank size or a combination. For the record, I had 6 and then 12 in a Jewul Vision 180 with 6 corys. In my case, a lot of the trouble seemed to be territorial...

    Which External Filter Is Better

All Pond Solutions seem to be pretty good, and excellent value, but are too big to fit in my cabinet or else I'd get one. APS 1400

    Fighty Silver Tip Tetras

Yup. I returned mine about a month ago and changed them for neons. They are said, on most web sites and by most LFS's, to be be 'a bit nippy', but they are actually little psychos! A closer search of the web revealed other people who had problems with them. I guess they are stocked because...

How To Stop Eggs Being Eaten?

You can carefully scrape the eggs into a net with a credit card or something, then put them in a breeder net, which hooks on the side of your tank.
