Petco sales the stuff they use. I bought a bottle just to see if it would cycle my new tank in 24 hours like they claim. It did not. A week later and my tank is still in the process of cycling.

I have 6 tiger barbs ( 3 green, 3 striped) in with a dwarf gourami and the gourami will run the tiger barbs off when they get to close. I was just watching them and they where all sitting in the same corner of my tank.

Thanks for the help guys. I have 3 green and 3 striped. I will look into some of those cichlids. I will just have to figure out what I want.

I have 6 Tiger Barbs in a 30 gallon. I have 7 Cardinal Tetras in a 10 gallon that I am wanting to move into the 30. Would they be ok in there with the Tigers? If not, what else could I put in there? Red Tail Shark, Gourami, is there some small cichlid I can put in there? Any help would be great...

Well that's what I don't under stand. I didn't put fish in there for the first 4 weeks. The ammonia got to .50 ppm then backed down to .25 and that's where it has stayed ever since. Even after adding fish for the last week and 1/2 it hasn't moved at all.

Yes there are 4 serpae tetras in there from my in-laws tank because they got fish happy and over stocked their tank. I don't have room in my 10g or they would have gone in there.

The mature filter is in with the new filter. I also grabbed a handful of substrate from the mature tank and placed in the new one. I just have never seen my nitrIte move at all. It has never been higher then 0ppm. Everything else in my opinion looks good.

So I have a 26 gallon that I have been cycling for 5 weeks with a filter from my established 10 gallon. My ammonia is sitting around .25 ppm, nitrite is 0 and nitrate is 20ppm. Ph is 7.6. Is it normal to see some ammonia, no nitrite and that much nitrate?

So I have a 26 gallon bowfront that I am about to stock. I have a 10 gallon with cardinal, serpae, cories and algae eaters in it. I was thinking about moving them over but I have also been looking at putting some tiger barbs and some other fish that can handle there aggression. What do y'all...

So how many cories would you put in? If not Tiger Barbs then I'll probably go with Rasbora. Is the 1" per gallon rule a must or can that ne played with a little?

So I have a 30 gallon. I have 5 serpae tetras, 5 cardinal tetras, 2 peppered corys. I am going to add another 3-5 cardinals. I was wanting to know if I could put some tiger barbs, 1 dwarf groumie, a couple swordtails in there also? Thanks for the info yall.

I'm Shane. I have had a 10 gallon fresh water for a year or so now and just got a 26 gallon for my birthday. Looking forward to learning from this forum and having fun.
