Your tank is big enough for both schools of tetras if you want them, as long as you keep up with water changes.
I would only get 1 pleco though cos they have a huge bio load for such a small fish. :)
It might still be a good idea to acclimatise them even if its only for a short while, i did when i moved my fish from one tank to another, i would certainly keep the tank lights off for a few hours.
Still guppies are hardy fish so they may cope perfectly if you just net them and move them...

I'm planning to use my 18th birthday this weekend as an excuse to ask my parents for a moderately expensive fish/small shoal of moderately expensive fish, any suggestions that people have would be really useful. I have excellent water quality though it is a tad hard. It/they must be compatible...
