How do I prevent this from happening?

50 gallon tank (36x18x19) 5 Firemouths 1 Blue Acara 1 Convict Right now they're all about 3 inches. Thanks.

I've had 4 Juvy Firemouths for 3 months now, and they don't ever swim around the tank. They're either in a cave, next to a rock or under a plant. If you looked at my tank, you wouldn't even know there's fish in there. It's a ghost town. What gives?

Does it have to hang above the water to create a "waterfall"? Because when I just leave it at water level I don't see the air bubbles and flow. Does it matter or effect the fish?

Dude you gotta get some Firemouths. They got a cool personality and are the best colored of all the cichlids IMO.

If one goes to the other side of the tank, the other 3 follow. They all sleep under the same cave too.

I just got 4 juvenile Firemouths and they all stick together like dither fish, lol. Is that normal?

Or is it better to keep then in pairs like 2, or 4? Thanks.

Update: I have the temp maxed out and the digital therm. inside the tank still reads only 70.5 The heater light is on so I know it's working. Do you think my low house temperature of 67 is the problem? I think it should still be heating up better than that.

I have an Aqueon 150 watt in a 32 gallon tank. I have it set for 76 yet the digital thermometer reads 71. The little orange light is on so I know it's working, and it's only 3 days old. The only thing I can think of is my house temperature is 64 degrees. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have weird tank dimensions. They are 36x12x17. That seems more than 30.

true. well time to take out the old python and do a 90% water change. BTW, Is 4 firemouths in a 32 gallon tank too much?

but dave shouldn't my filter be cleaning that and making the water clear?

It's brownish. I probly didn't wash the stuff out well enough. I think I'm gonna do a 90% water change to get it clear, then start cycling tomorrow. BTW. I have a 32 gallon tank. In your opinion would this work 5 zebra danios 4 firemouths 4 otto cats
