Hi, The Thai government imposes a very high tax on imports of almost all goods and has extra restriction on bringing in live fish. Also, the glass catfish originates from Thailand, so very unlikely that they would import one from Africa...especially when they cost only one dollar per fish! Cheers

Thanks for the commiserations - I was also very shocked when I came home and found all the fish dead (there was no sign of any of them). I guess some people are just extremely irresponsible. and perhaps will be reincarnated as fish in their next lives.
