Sorry to drag this topic up again, but regarding the toothpaste technique - does the tank need to be empty for that? I have a couple of eye-level scratches that are driving me nuts, but nowhere to put my fish!

I'm very, VERY reluctant to follow the instructions again - the last time I did that, my fish were dying within 30 minutes of adding it and I was extremely careful with the dosages. All of my harlequins were dead within an hour of the treatment being added... I find that odd... I know whitespot...

I do the same - they seemed fine at first and my neons had been in there for about three weeks. I'm just hoping my siamese fighter survives now.

Thanks... they were only in transit for about 30 mins. I think something went wrong with the whitespot treatment... all I have left now is my siamese fighting fish and one lone neon. :(

It seems to be OK.. it's not the most active, but it's swimming around... the last harlequin is now amost dead though. :( I'm wondering if the medication disagreed with them. It went downhill in half an hour. I don't have any test strips yet... I'm hoping to pick some up tomorrow.

No, I did add 4 new fish earlier today though... but they weren't tetras, if that makes any difference.

Hi, another newbie here... Can whitespot show up very quickly? My neon tetras were fine yesterday, but today one seems to have six or seven small white specks. I'm going to get a treatment tomorrow, I just hope it's soon enough... :(
