The only thing my oscars eat live are earthworms, spiders, and flys that the kids catch for them. I haven't brought feeders for them because of the disease, but I have herd of a lot of people who raise convicts and feed the fry to the oscars and other cichlids, as they are home raised and...

I think it would be fine right now , till you can find a larger tank. I find all kinds of deals in the buy and sell. Especially right now after christmas. I even got lucky one day when I was at the pet store , they were getting ready to renovate, I was looking around at the fish and I said I...

If it was me, I would put a Oscar and a Blue jack dempsey in there. I have them in together and they do just great! The blue is a lot more mild tempered than the regulars, He doesn't bother nobody aybody and nobody bothers him. It's quite peaceful actually. :good:

Yea... I had two oscars that were about 4 inches in a 108 gallon tank, I tried to put a convict in there... the fight was on. :blink: I never saw a little fish stand his ground so good! He was only about 1 inch, and he decided that the whole tank was his! I had to scoop him out of there...

Their colouring wouldn't really help them in the wild either considering how flashy they are. I think this would contribute to their numbers in the wild.
