Ok everyone. I did end up finding some ammonia and added some to my tank. I've had a reading of 7.0ppm for my ammonia and zero for both Nitrite and nitrate for four days. Is this normal or did I add to much ammonia? I'm hoping it'll just take a few more days to see results.
yeah I'm aware that that is to warm but I'm trying to get my tank to cycle a little faster. I plan on bringing the temp back down when the cycling is done but I just thought the heater could do a little better than that. I was reading up on the heater and why the light doesn't stay on is so the...
ooohhh  That explains alot. Does anybody make a higher wattage heater. That way I would only need one heater. I really don't need the water to be much warmer than that anyway. Well let me know what you think.
I have a wisper 30-60 submersible heater in my 55 gallon aquarium. The heater is about a year old. I used it for about two months and I had other problems so I emptied the tank. I just started up the tank again about two weeks ago and I've been having problems with the heater. I can get the temp...
I'm sorry guys I'm just gettting fed up with this thing already. I thought I had everything to start the tank up again and I don't. I don't mean to act stupid guys but there is some stuff I just don't know about aquariums yet. I will tell you this though, I wouldn't have a clue how to do all...
Get this everyone. I looked all over today for ammonia and couldn't find it anywhere. I went to the lfs that is 50 miles away and they said "I never heard of that before". I even went to walmart and they didn't have it. I guess I'll have to go with out.
I checked all over today in my home town and I couldn't find ammonia anywhere. So now I have to drive 50 miles to a walmart to get it. :sly: Oh well it'l give something to to this weekend.
I have reread the stickies over and over again but they really don't say if you have to add ammonia or not. I was under the impression that adding ammonia was just to hurry along the process, but I guess I was wrong. I will have to go buy some ammonia .
Thanks for all the replies
Mike
Thanks for the information. So you just take your cart out and put it in the tank and rinse it out. Then you do your 25% water change. Is this correct? I like that idea alot better than buying cart every month.
Thanks
Mike
I'm not exactly sure what to feed the fish I want to get. Most of them that I want to get are omnivore except for the Kuhli loache which is a carnivore according to me research. The names of the fish and the number of what I want to get are: 3-Kuhli Loaches, 8-Neon Tetra's, 3- Pearl Gourami's...
I have a Regent 30-60 filter system. It's a system that hangs on the back of the aquarium and has ez-change filter cartidges. The new cartridge package says to change the cartridges every 2-4 weeks. My question is does this sound right? Should I wait longer or change them more often?
I forgot to add I have my temp set to 79 degrees right now and I tested my tap water for nitrates. The color card doesn't seem to be real accurate but it looks to be in between 0 and 5.0 ppm.
I also have city water if this means anything.
