When adding household ammonia, do you still need to do water changes during the cycling period?

Any certain brand that I should look out for? So, should I add the snails before adding the fish? I think I have too many questions to ask. lol

Absolutely. Since it is a fishless cycle, do i need to put a few snails in it? And also, what kind of testing strips/solution do you recommend?

Would you recommend fishless cycle for a beginnger?

Ok here goes. I jsut came from Petsmart where I purchased a 20 high starter kit. I didn't buy any gravels,plants or anything else yet because I have a few questions that I need to ask before doing so. I want to put gouramis and a couple of apple snails only for this 20 gallon. Does anyone know...

What about cleaning out the filter system that was used with this setup? It works fine, but looks kinda dirty. Would i be able to let it soak in the beach water to clean?

I'm not sure as to where on this forum to post this message being i'm still new here, so I'll try posting it here. What is the correct way to clean an old tank that hasn't been in use? I'm thinking of cleaning a 10 gallon with warm water,vinegar and a tad of bleach, but don't know if it's safe...
