I've got an older tank, it's 55 gallons, and I'd say i loose about 1.5 inches a week. I keep it around 79 degrees, which is definately warmer then the room that it's in. Kinda freeked me out at first how fast it evaporated, but when I take into account the temperature, it makes more sense.

He definately couldn't get into the filter, the pickup tube has slots at the bottom that are maybe 2 mm wide by 6mm tall where it sucks the water in... I checked Under my tv, thinking he could've flopped around to get under that... not there... only other place is under the couch and love seat...

no other pets. I've got a penguin 350 bio-wheel filter. I'll take everything off the tank tonight and take a peek around... He's probably about 4 inches long. there are only a couple openings in the top, the biggest is probably like 1.5" X 4" others are 1.5" square... I'll update...

It's a 55 gallon tank, and I just have fake plants in there right now, with rocks for substrate. so there aren't any really good hiding spots that I can't see. I'll check around the tank again tonight, but we looked pretty good last night. maybe abducted by aliens? :alien: :fish:

Ok, looking at my tank when i get home and my bala shark is missing??? looked around the aquarium, and all throughout the aquarium, and i can't find him... any ideas? he must've gotten out right? no skeletons so i'm guessing my school of 8 tiger barbs couldn't have eaten him? clueless, Derek

it's Red Sea's multi test. nitrite is 0, there isn't a nitrate test included, I don't know why I thoght there was. But last night when I tested the ammonia was < .25ppm, don't know why thats showing up, so I did a 15 gal water change last night. All the tiger barbs that i've ever seen, at a...

tank's been up for abou 5-6 months, might've been nitrate, i get the two mixed up all the time... only 1 letter difference, it kills me... but anyways, i'll do the battery of tests tonight, and write back in here tomorrow.

I'll check them when i get home so I can post accurate numbers, but when they started dying they were 0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, and < 8 nitrite, I do about 10-20 gallons water change a week.
