Hey guys, I recently upgraded from an AquaOne 510 to an AquaOne 850. The 510 had a hole in the back of the filter that allowed me to run electrical cords (filter, heater and lights) through it enabling me to neatly fit both the hood and the filter onto the tank top with no over hang. I can not...

    Stocking Advice

Hey Will, thanks for the reply. The tank height is actually 23inchs so i should be sweet! I was more concerned about the length just being shy of 3 feet (it's 2.8). I'd love 4 bolivian's, but I can't for the life of me sex them. I don't think the footprint is large enough for 4 male bolivian's...

    Stocking Advice

Hello, My tank dimensions are 85cm long x 44cm wide x 58cm high. It holds 165L or 44US Gallons. I'd like to stock: 1 angelfish 10 red-eye tetra's 2 bolivian rams My main concern is that the red eye's will eat my plants (amazon swords, vallisneria, hairgrass) or nip my angel's fins, but I...

    Amazon River Basin Biotope

Hey Guys, This week I'm upgrading my tank from a 75L/20US G to a 165L/44US G tank. Within the constraints of a 75L tank I've kept fish for about a year and a half and dipped my toe in the aquascaping pool... and let me tell you, i'm awful at the latter and could use the help of enthusiasts...

    Fish Selection

Merry Christmas guys, I'm upgrading my take size and could use your expertise. I've recently acquired more space in my room and am going to upgrade from an AquaOne 510 (75L/20US G) tank to an AquaOne 850 (165L/44US G) tank. The dimensions of the 850 tank are as follows: 840mm W, 580mm H and...

How To Get Rid Of My Algae?

Plant some hygrophilia polysperma. If you're still having problems, do a large water change and plant some more. The algea will eventually disappear as it loses the battle for precious nutrients. Having a planted tank is the only long term solution if your tank is getting light. Edit: You said...

    Algea That Wont Go Away!

I had a terrible algea problem in my betta tank but a little hygrophillia polysperma cleared that right up. Edit: Unless you eliminate light or get some live plants you'll be stuck with algea. Everything else is a short-term fix.

About Ready To Throw In The Towel

Have you been getting all these fish from the same LFS? Perhaps it's the stock.

    Wondering.....

I've heard a few stories of fishkeepers successfully keeping a few male betta's in one tank, but they were brothers raised together as fry. Likewise, I've heard that you may be able to keep a couple of male betta's in a tank if it's large enough. Apparently, "fighting to the death" is only true...

    Snakeheads

Hey guys, I'm still a few years off buying predatory fish but I love to window shop on this website, so I can dream about my future tanks! The moment I saw a photo of a rainbow snakhead, I knew that i'd like to keep them in the future. Unfortunately it looks like they are illegal to keep in...

About Ready To Throw In The Towel

Are you using dechlorinator with your water changes? What sort of filter do you have, does it provide aeration? Sorry if you've already answered these.
