there are several different types of lights you can use. maybe try useing a light that does not provide as many of the lumins required to support plant life? Or on the ohter hand something that likes to eat the algae like say a pleco or two?

well it worked 100%,
1 gallon of tank water
15 drops of 100% clove oil
8 seconds, you can watch the fish stop breathing, took him out of clove mix
grabbed with open hand
removed rock with tweezers
2 min of fish in separate tank water
100% back to normal
back into main population, feed the tank...
