right.....for three tetras.....what ratio of salt to water?
Do I need aquarium salt or just ordinary table salt and how long at a time do I bath them for and for how many days?
I assume I take some tank water out in a bowl and add salt?
Thanks
Me again
Well I feel in limbo
this is my 4th/5th? week of treatment now
Did another 50% water change today, gravel vac, removed and sterilised rocks and plants and re added anti bacterial medication and pimafix
All other fish remain fine but 3 tetras still with this cotton wool growth on their...
Well I am slightly encouraged this morning in that the sickest tetra is now off the bottom of the tank, is swimming actively and feeding again
I think the cotton wool on his mouth looks slightly reduced too!
The other 2 still have small spots on the mouth but will be watching closely and keeping...
It says in the booklet that Interpet no 8 anti fungus and finrot is for Flexibacter columnaris?
but...it didnt work!
Anyhow....did a 50% water change on Friday and started treating again with Interpet 9 anti bacteria and primafix
Today the tetra who was worse affected seems to have lost his...
Hi
I treated twice with interpet 9 anti internal bacteria and melafix combined with no change
After that course I did a 50% water change and have now treated twice with interpet 8 anti fungus and fin rot (recommended in the booklet for both columnaris and cotton wool fungus as Im not sure which...
update....
I am now into my third week of treatment
Have repeated the treatment for anti fungus but it is still very much apparent on the two tetras (white cotton wool like blobs growing around the mouth) ....they are still lively and feeding and all other tank inhabitants are fine
water...
Thanks Jo....I will bear that in mind tho I am away from the City centre....out near the airport
well I rang the vet and as I had dosed the tank interpet 9 internal bacteria, he adviced to see how that went.....I treated for a week with the 2 recommended doses and on the positive side...no more...
I thought I would come in and say hello properly.
Joined in a hurry for emergency posts and have recieved a great deal of help already.
Have been keeping fish for about 6 years (naively I now realise) but an upgrade of a tropical tank in December has resulted in a nightmare disease situation and...
will ring the vets tomorrow
Will I be able to put this in the water on top of the interpet 9 and the melafix?
These poor fish....if the bugs dont get them they are at the very least going to be a bunch of druggies!!! :o
Is it past the stage of the iterpet being able to help then?
I sure do.....to my horror I can see 2 tetras now with fungus on the mouth and another with frail looking fins....they all looked fine this morning :shout:
This is a nightmare and for the first time I am realising I could loose the whole lot
How do I get rid of this disease...... will this...
I have dosed today with Interpet 9 anti internal bacteria and will repeat as instructed in 4 days
Alas it was not soon enough to save the angel fish who has died this afternoon :(
No further deterioration so far in the guppy and all the other fish look fine so far too but will this medication...
many thanks again for all your advice
I feel guilty I have wasted another day in attempting to treat the fish... I have never had major problems before and didnt imagine I could feel so bad watching them sick or dying :(
I desperatly want to fix things
Also....if the worst came to the worst and I lost all the fish.... what should I do next?
would the tank be infected so to speak?
would treating the water be enough or would it have to be stripped to nothing and cleaned.....and how on earth would you be able to clean micro organisms?
