Help New To German Blue Rams

When they seem to be sorting out dominance when they were first put in this tank one became a lesser colour, but now they are both vivid in colour. I'd feel guilty taking one back as they seem happy. I think i'll ask in the LFS that i got the females from, i'd like to try with a couple of males...

Small White Lice Like Creatures In My Tank

They're sort of shiny and white and they can move fast, they're also really agile. Their bodies are sort of a long oval shape. So yes i think they are copepods. I do try and practice strict hygiene whilst handling my tanks, but i still get water splashed in my eyes on occasion and i use bare...

Small White Lice Like Creatures In My Tank

Just curious if they are a danger, to myself (i'm having a baby) or my fish. I use Paragon As i don't wish to kill the snails in this tank as i feed them to my figure of eights. They don't seem to be bothering my fish, just crawling around in the java moss and on the bog wood.

    Sexing Platy Fry

Interesting but will they start breeding or can they breed at that young age, i think you really need to be able to sex and seperate as soon as possible but it is hard, i've managed at 6 1/2 weeks old, but i still wonder if some of the females will turn male as the fin recedes. Mine are 3cm's...

    Very Small Snail On Glass?

If you see snails i say go to war removing all you see, they do eat plants. Ok so that little snail looks cute now but they'll soon over run a tank and you'll learn to just hate them, i do. I'm going to try Gastropex

    Feeding Fry

I started mine off on hard boilded egg yolk and baby brine shrimp, then also blanced fresh veg. After about a week they seem to quite like small blood worms. They're so cute and gain their colours so fast, i have over 40 in my 18 gallon tank with their two mom's, the guy at the lfs is very...

    Silver Guppy tail ragged

Well it's still going on, i just lost a black and white guppy today and one of my cardinals has a swim bladder problem i know this can be bacterial as well. All i can do is wait for the antibiotics to come and then treat the whole main tank and of course i'll pull both filters out i have...

    Getting A Tad Freaked

You can't get antibiotics in this country, as i see you're from england. If you're in the States you can and you may have a chance. To get antibiotics in this country for fish you need a £20 consultation and a £70 swab test, then you have to wait over a week and by that time the fish are dead...

    Silver Guppy tail ragged

I'll just clone the filter again from my main tank, i've just lost another loach and i think the other loach and blue guppy will be dead by morning, i'm checking ammonia and nitrites twice a day on my quarantine tank, both are 0 ppm. Question will my main tank carry this bacteria for ever now...

Right i'm still losing fish my silver guppy has died, and one of my queen loaches has already died and the other two are infected, my blue guppy and the two loaches are now in an isolation tank, i'm going to try double dosing with a product called esha. I asked my vet for Mycin but to no avail...

    Is This Mouthrot?

My female platy mouth rot was smooth as she had no lips, i strongly advise you treat as it can be very aggressive as i've found out to my own cost and my poor fishes.

    Silver Guppy tail ragged

It did in my new tank i had a small nitrite spike 0.05 ppm, my silver guppys fins are still receeding plus now my platy female with no lips has cloudy eye. I put in last night waterlifes bacterlife and this morning did a 50% water change, all i can do is keep treating. I did test this morning...

    Silver Guppy tail ragged

Tonight my silver guppy is looking a little better and actually swimming around. The guy at Waterlife recommended double dosing with myxazin as it was virulent, so a fish can lose alot of tail when the bacteria is so aggressive, so it is possible to lose a tail overnight. One of my queen...

    Silver Guppy tail ragged

Well i know one thing i will not ever be buying platies or any other fish from Herts Fisheries again, as they brought in a virulent bacterial infection and parasites, so when i've finished dosing with myxazin given a few days and carbon, i will start treating with sterazin :( My poor silver...
