I mounted my Driftwood for my new tank tonight by zip tieing it inconspicuously to a piece of slate. But afterwards I wondered if a ziptie might leach anything bad into my water.

i use zip ties all the time, no problems here. :good:

cool ty figured they were okay but wanted to check before I put in any fishes. I jumped the two filter cartrdges from my other penguin 350(the tank has another filter two baskets of ceramic rings and a bio wheel still so it bacteria is sound) to the filter on this one to seed it a couple days ago. So I am gonna add a couple fish and watch the water specs then add some more. Once I had one tank runnig smoothly starting others seems breezy :D

The only problem I can see is with some of them that actually use a tiny bit of metal to keep them from coming loose. The metal would probably rust. The all-nylon ones should be just fine, as stated above.
