Hello all,
First time poster and newbie to cichlids.
Just in the process of stocking my 55 gallon Malawi tank.
Had the tank cycling for the last month and now ready for the first fish.
Been to the lfs and purchased my first eight fish, six of these where from individual tanks that I knew the species.
The last two were from a mixed Malawi tank that my son chose and I don't know what they are.
Any help identifying them will be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Emarley
PS sorry for the poor image quality, taken on my phone

Hello fellow African cichlid keeper, I sadly don't get to see many on this forum :(

Not too sure on the striped one, but the blue looks like a young dolphin. Give them time, once they reach 4ish inches you will be better able to ID them. I'm going to give you a heads up though, many malawai haps (which both seem to be) get 8 or so inches and should be in a 75gal minimum. The dolphin is one such hap, they get pretty big.

Keep in mind that there is always a chance of getting a cross-breed fish from mixed tanks. Nothing wrong with that, you just have mutt fish. I've got several of my own, most raised by me and a few I bought/rescued from terrible fish store conditions. Don't let the die-hards get to you about "hybrid" fish, they can be just as lovely as a pure species.
