Started Making Lid And Custom Lighting For 5 Ft Tank

started making the frame on top of the tank

have ordered 5m RGB LED kit and some wired connectors
will be cutting to roughly 1.4m lengths - using 3 rows of led's

then the top will be covered in black perspex

so many colours to choose from and can even have custom colours - very impressed with them

lid nearly done - ignore the 2ft light unit on top, thats all i have for now - thats why making this unit
the 3 slats across is whre the 3 strips of leds will go

the led set i got

white light - full light , not dimmed

white light - dimmed to lowest

blue light - full light , not dimmed

blue light - dimmed to lowest

as u can see from the remote i have 20 colours to choose from - then i can customise the colours if i want to

will update once painted and led strips fitted

a very nice project gavsuz.and its coming along very nicely,i do like the LED lights and i have been pondering whether to get some myself,im running striplights at the moment and it does get hot in the lid, the LEDs that your using...may i ask where you got them from?..please tell me.

..i like the idea that you can change the colours with the remote.im looking forward to seeing your project finished..

all finished now - my strip connectors turned up today so i could cut the strip to required lengths and rejoin
haven't got the perspex on the top - but it may grow on me as doesn't look too bad as it is

You've done a smashing job, mate! I'm well impressed. I'm looking for something similar for my lid-less bowfront tank. Perhaps I'll do it myself... Or more likely find someone with some skill to do it for me!

Looks great but reason I said no plants is they have tiny lumen output and plants wouldn't survive.
