I came home today only to almost burst into tears, as I saw my sparkling gourami stuck motionless on my filter. Presuming he was dead, and another motionless on the gravel, I instantly had a panic attack. I turned on the tank light and aerator (I only keep both on a few hours per day). As soon as I did, both Gouramis started swimming again! What the heck is that about?! I immediately checked my water parameters: NH4+ = 0, pH = 8.0 (I know this is high for Gouramis but they've lived happily in it since I got them in July), NO3 = 5ppm, NO- = 0, temp=73*F/24*C. I'm using the API Master Test Kit. I am confident these parameters are right because my tank is cycled and I changed the water 2 days ago. What on earth was this scare about?! My heart almost exploded!

One thing I did notice? They're not eating. I add food to the tank and if it doesnt fall *right* in front of them, they don't even know its there. Bloodworms, sinking pellets, flakes, etc. they had a very low drive to push for food.

What's going on, guys? :(
