Rams - chasing and help with gender please

We had a pair of EBR and the smaller of the two died. Today we added a Green Ram and the EBR is chasing it like mad. Do we have a male and a female and should we separate them?

Rams need to choose their mate. That is what most people have trouble with because they just throw them in the tank. When the fish dont choose, it can work out great or everything can go wrong in terms of aggression.
