Hello all!
Im looking at trying to make a decent looking setup for my 240l Green Terror tank and was hoping to use a mix of stones etc. The trouble ive ran into is the majority of shops around me have driftwood but no rock and no idea where to get the plastic trays from to place under them.

Where do you guys/girls get your rocks and crates from? I was hoping to get what ive seen called Dragon Rock and Wood Rock?

With the plastic trays as well I was hoping to stack them in some areas to elevate the wood is this safe to do if i cable tie the trays together? Im hoping for maybe an inch or 2 elevation.

Thanks!

The plastic trays - are you referring to egg crate? I don't use them personally but I'd probably just purchase them from the likes of eBay. For rocks; the majority of what I have comes from the local garden centre and landscaping suppliers (I've seen petrified wood rock available from the latter). A few times I have asked the local fish shop if they could order some in and they have always been accommodating so it can be worth giving them a call.

Do you have a Maidenhead Aquatics near you? The two near me both carry stuff like dragon stone with quite large chunks available.

There is a maidenhead near me they didnt have any rock on show but ill give them a ring tomorrow! Theres only paws for thought other than MH so ill try call them too.

I sorted some of the egg crates out thanks! Found some bits on amazon. A video of an American fishkeeper said it was some sort of drainage tray for under pots so it was confusing me.

Ill have a look in gardem centres too, are the rocks etc readily avaliable there?

Thanks!

A couple of the garden centres near me carry rocks, It can be a bit of a mixed bag though, some have them others don't. To be fair you're less likely to get rocks like dragon stone from a garden centre, more just your normal stuff. I did luck out with one of the centres near me carrying black Seiryu stone! The more interesting rocks I've had are from more specialised places that sell 'landscaping' decor or Maidenhead aquatics. There is of course online vendors, however they can be quite pricey for what you get, I'd guess they're going to carry smaller pieces more suited to nano tanks due to the nature of having to ship them out!

I'd definitely give Maidenhead Aquatics a call, the two near me keep the rocks in a place that is a bit out of the way so you might get lucky and find they have em in, if not they have them listed on their website so they should be able to get some in for you!
