Hello! So on Sunday, I started cycling my second 20 gallon tank. I'm currently waiting for my test kit to come in the mail so I went to a fish shop nearby and they tested my water. Nitrites were at 0, Ammonia was at 0, and I don't know the exact level but they said my Nitrates were a little high but not high enough to harm fish. Is this normal?

It is normal to have some nitrates in the water supply.

You can't cycle a tank without adding a source of ammonia.

You really should get tests of your own; if you do get the shop to do your testing for you, then you must get the actual numbers from the tests, but your own set of tests is important as, when you're cycling, you will need to be testing every day.
