Hi all

I have a pygmy corydoras with an over-inflated swim bladder that it does not appear to be able to release the air from. The fish is still able to swim throughout the water column and feed itself, but it must be causing it discomfort. Can anyone suggest what I can do to help this fish recover or what can do to treat the issue?

Thanks

You can fast him for a couple of days to see if that helps. Then feed him a blanched deshelled pea. Do you have a tank heater? Cold water slows down the digestive system so you may want to raise your temp a couple degrees for a few days to see if that helps too. You can also try an Epsom salt bath if your little guy is up to it. I’d start with a teaspoon of Epsom salt to a gallon of treated water for. 3 minutes the first time to see how he does. Hope it all works out for you.
