Greetings everyone this is my first post on FF.

I enter this forum as an experienced 10 year aquarist specialising in african cichlids, however when it comes to co2 planted aquariums i am a little bit green (pardon the pun)

I have read with great interest through the forums and gained some excellent information.

I have just bought a bargain tank from ebay, ebay is brilliant isn't it ?

this can be seen ... here

it's a fluval roma 240... will the installed lighting be sufficient ? 2x39w t8 lights and 2x39w t5 lights ?

This is going to be my planted tank and i am hopefully going to set it up as a fully planted masterpiece, with your help of course !

The lighting of the tank i will discuss on another thread, I would like to order the parts required for the co2 first as they will be coming from overseas (i think)

I would like some help and information and full shopping list for setting up a full co2 fire extinguisher system.

I have looked on other threads but most links on ebay have expired, so could a member please post a shopping list of the items i will need (I am on a budget though and i don't mind waiting for equipment from overseas) preferably from ebay as i have paypal funds... basically if you were setting up a brand new co2 system your shopping list with links if possible

Thankyou in advance if you do reply i really appreciate your help...

I will take photographs as i build the aquarium and co2 parts, the most important thing is i have the patience to build the system first now, where 10 years ago i would be itching to get it allready in a week i know its going to take a little longer i have a timeframe of 6-8 weeks before i add water.

Just one last thing i also have to redocorate the living room before the planted tank goes in, this was the only clause to the new tank being purchased. Have any other members agreed with their spouse or partner "conditions" before getting another tank ?

IF you want a list of what i use

2kg fire extingusher,
Regulator
solenoid
diffuser
drop checker

That what you mean?

Great, i have actually read that thread, but as a more open approach i was hoping to see what different members would buy to build their system, not all parts to the co2 system are the same quality.

thankyou

if you mean is it worth paying extra for the "branded" systems and components? then NO!

Just like to say that is an amazing looking tank you have in your sig...
I just wanted members to post links from ebay or websites where they would buy if they were setting up a new co2 system (just so i don't buy the wrong/poor quality equipment) I would like to get this right first time you see.

:good: thanks for the replies buy the way...

If you read through Aaron's pinned guide it tells you exactly what he bought, and I know myself and many others have basically followed that advice adn just adjusted slightly for our own needs. So the best thing you could do was read through the thread and make a kit up from that.

Before you buy post links to the bits your thinking of and if there's anything wrong you can be given assistance. Asking members to post links to things they bought on ebay isn't really fair or easy as most of us just shop around until we find a bargain, and often they are once offs.

Yeah, like i just won a new 2kg fire extinguisher for £2.50 but i doubt youd find a similar deal...

Well, I got one ! for £0.01 ! woo hoo ! ebay item here

well not strictly true as postage is £13.00 (however the seller does use parcelforce)

I just need all the other bits and pieces now, I have a load of stuff to sell on ebay as well so the reg and other bits and pieces will be coming out of the proceeds of those items.

Geoff, which reg & solenoid did you buy ?

also, do you have a needle valve fitted on your co2 system ?

:good:

You need a needle valve its essential to control how much CO2 is in your aquarium but if you buy a reg and solenoid kit usually there is one atatched. Aaron links to what most people use in his pinned topic, personally I bought a Azoo one cause it was the cheapest I could find, just set it off so can't really comment on it yet.
