hey Iā€™ve recenty got 2 platy to start my tank up and was wondering how many flakes should they be fed and how many times a day? Thanks

Hi there, welcome to the forum :)

Under normal conditions, each fish needs an amount of food roughly the same size as its eye, once a day.

When you say you got these fish to 'start your tank', does that mean you're doing a fish-in cycle? Because if you are, and you can't (or wont) return the fish, you want to keep feeding to a minimum; feeding only once every two or three days, so as to keep ammonia production as low as possible.

How big is your tank, is it planted and do you have test kits for the water?

Iā€™ve done a fishless cycle already and had a free water test done at the local fish store and given the green light so was ready to go but a test kit is also set to come on Sunday. Also itā€™s a 15 gallon but only with two moss balls for now but will most likely get some plants for it soon. Thanks for the help

Oh, that's great :)

I would still keep feeding to minimum until you get your test kits though; healthy fish can easily go a few days without food as, being cold blooded, they need far less food than mammal of the same size.

You're very welcome :)
