(this one has camera flash on so looks a little different )

Can anyone help me , i want to clear these fish of their alements

both of these fish are active in the tank and eating very well everytime i feed them and competing with other fish for their grub, im not seeign and flashing or other odd behaviour.

Before I take a look at all the pics need some more info.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water atats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Any signs of flicking and rubbing or laboured breathing.

The pics don't work.

Probably the leech then get it out of the tank they can suck all the blood out of small fish.

Scroll down to leeches.

images fixed now

tank details 88ltr cold water, 2 dace 9cm & 6cm, 1 Rudd 6cm, 1 Gudgeon 7cm,

water as of 2 hrs ago

dh = 180-240
kh = 180
ph = 7.2
ammo = <0.25
Nitrite = <0.25
Nitrate = 20

im cycling with fish in, changing 40ltr each day, 13 days into process

Not familar with them type of fish.
Water change and increase aeration in the tank.
Get the leech out of the tank and use a med.

In the uk the intepet anti crustaceon med wipe the benefical bacteria out in the filter.
See if there a waterlife med.

I'm guessing you got these fish from the wild put them into a tank with normal tap water (maybe conditioned) Theres your problem right there.
The fish may have already had some kind of parasite which they lived with in the wild, but if you then introduced them to different water perimeters then the parasite could have reacted in a bad way leading to what they have.

Wait until 'wilder' replies again, disease expert :good:

Havent a clue on these type of fish.
Think the tanks way to small for them.
Need to answer some of guppy_ man questions.

Wilder these types of fish are common in most UK waters. Dace usually found in canals, rivers. Rudd found in rivers, lakes, canals. Same with gudgeon.

Bearing in mind rudd, dace, and gudgeon are all shoaling fish, so really their not for aquaria. Rudd are usually sold for garden ponds. But i have never seen dace or gudgeon being sold for either. Thats why im thinking he got them from the wild (which is illegal) might i add.

Ok get some advice.

Is the post a wind up or have you taken the fish from the wild.

i have to admit i did,

look i did all that before i checked in here.

It was an error

the situation now is that im comitted to these fish now ive taken em and am tryign to make em better. ( that means willing to spend money on their wellbeign)

im aware that the rudd may outgrow the tank, others on here have told me that.

are you lot more intrested in agruing over ethics and castigating noobs making errors or in making things better for fish?

the circimstances are what they are , i caused them and cant change that now.

so if you have fuller answers that can help me sort out the fish pelase give em.

We want to help.
I would treat the fish for the leeches and get the leech out of the tank.
Then I would phone the rspca and let them take them back to the wild.
Though you will be in trouble with the rspca.
Can''t think of anything else they don't derserve to be in tanks.

when i cought the fish i put htem in the tank with rain water as it goes.

The Rudd allready had the lesions on him, i had thoght that it was where he had been mauled by a perch or somthing.

I returned to the river and did a set of tests on the river water. i realised that he dh and kh of the rainwater was too low.

i tested my local tap water and it has spot on values for the river water expect maybe its standign 20ppm fo Nitrates.

ive been usign conditioned tap water since then.

I would take them back if its illegal.
You would have to climatise them back to the river water.
Out of my depth here.
What wrong with setting a tank up and getting fish from an lfs.

greta many thanks.

befoe i could quarenteen the fish with the leech , ti seems the leech is no longer on fish. may be in tank, maybe one of fishes ate it.
its not on any other fish, hopefully nto laying eggs after feeding, searched for it but its so smal ldidnt see it, vaxed 100 of gravel tonight did nt see it then either.

so will returnign the fish to the river cure them of their skin problems?

Just found out returning them back is illegal.
What a mess.

native fish are more intresting i think more relevant nature wise to UK.

and other then catchign them ( angling for them) you dont get ot see their behaviour.

that was why we did it, rightly or wrongly.

so whats peoples views on wild cought minnows or sticklebacks, is that illegal too?
