I have a Mickey mouse platy that is about 9 months old today. She was birthed from a recent platy that I used to have. She is very fat and I was positive she was pregnant. She has been pregnant for three months and most people tell me that they are only pregnant for 3-4 weeks. I had her in a very crowded tank, 5 gallon with 9 fish total (4 platys, 3 tetras, 1 zebra danio, 1 freshwater dwarf frog) with tons of hiding places. I moved them all to a 10 gallon tank and now am hoping to have some fry soon. Does anyone know what went wrong or what else I can possibly do?

I wish I had an answer for you, but I too have run in to some perpetually pregnant fish. I hope someone has the answer to this. Keep in mind, a fat fish can look pregnant. Perhaps she's just chubby.
