i had two peppered corys for a few years the male died... she hasnt eaten or moved around much since. if i get a new one will that save her?

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

It depends on why the other Cory died and what is wrong with the remaining one. If the fish died from a disease there is a possibility the other fish has the disease.

Test the tank water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate & pH, and post the results (in numbers) here.
If you don't have test kits, take a glass full of tank water to the local pet shop and get them to test it for you. Write the results down (in numbers) when they do the test. If they say "the water is fine", ask them what the results were in numbers.

Do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate each day for a week.

Clean the filter if it hasn't been done in the last 2 weeks. If you use a power filter, sponge filter or box filter, wash the filter materials in a bucket of tank water.

Post a picture of the remaining fish so we can check it for possible diseases.

Cories need to be kept in groups of 6 or more, The reason shes not acting normally if she is not sick is because shes alone and afraid.
