My betta sushi has gotten these spots of red/orange and white on his gills and idk what it is if its normal or not. when i first got him he didnt have them. His water always stays around a steady 75-78 and his water is always clean he doesnt have gravel and a heater for his tank. He eats betta pellets and dried blood worms every other day and hes always very excited and "aggressive" when he eats he never hesitates and He'll jump up out of water for food. His color hasnt lessened actually since i got him and even while the spots developed his color has actually gotten more vibrant, his yellow was chip color yellow and he was dull blue and now hes a cobalt blue with teal highlights and his yellow is now crayon yellow. His fins have gotten longer and better and he isnt less active or anything hes all around healthy they only concerns i have are the spots on the gills and the fact that the pics i attached (i hope i did them right and u see em..?) of the spots on his gills is his first time hes EVER flared he doesnt besides for the dry erase marker color you see and it was just a hour ago never before that.I got him July 26 of this year and hes never acted sick and still doesnt i just worry about him hes basically become my son almost i care about him alot id do anything to keep him healthy and make sure he isnt sick rn. Even if it isnt something bad if you know what the spots r please tell me and if it is sickness tell me what it is and how to treat it? Please and thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

If you can provide some pictures showing the fish without the multi-coloured wavy lines it would help us see what you are talking about.

Hello and thank you :) I can get a picture like that do you want just him normal or his gills flared? Or both?

Side view and front view if possible, or whatever view you can easily see the marks/ spots on him.

Take a bunch of pictures and check them on your pc, then post a couple that show the issue :)

These were the best pics of them I could get with as little red near it all he only flares at red nothing else sorry (It's the white parts on the gills(or gill flap? the part that opens forward when he flares I mean and they are there when his gills are normal) and the orange on the bottom of the beard I believe it's called when he flares)I hope these r more helpful

It's just colouration, some Bettas have it and some don't. He is a big healthy mature fish and showing off. It's nothing to worry about :)

He look fine to me.

Ok thank you so much ig I'm just a worry wart..^^; sorry thank you for the help ^^

Don't be afraid to ask for help if you have any concerns about fish. You are better off asking questions early and getting feedback, even if it is only to reassure you that it's ok. If you see something funny and you don't ask for help, it could be something bad and you lose the fish. Better to be safe than sorry :)
