I have been treating my tank with Maracyn to treat any sort of bacterial infections. The odd behavior in my tiger barbs have seemed to vastly improve from the treatment and they are not scared of the light anymore. However, I just watched my fish during a regular feeding and I noticed some white strands coming out of one of my tiger barbs.

I know that this is contagious and I fear that it may have spread already to my other fish. What brand or general treatment do you suggest for the tank??

29 gallon
3 tiger barbs
4 serpae tetras
1 african spotted leaf fish
2 mystery blue snails

Coming out of where? Is it poo?

You should google the symptoms your fish have. It may be a parasite, find out first and then treat appropriately. If it is a parasite, you'll need "maracide" from the same company that makes maracyn. Maracide treats parasites. I would only treat the affected fish in a quarantine tank. I think maracide is strong stuff.

This may help with your diagnosis:
