loosing its pattern?

i have 2, and 1 is loosing its mickey thing,

what is this about?

I have two mickey mouse swordtails and the mickey mouse pattern seems to be fading somewhat on mine too. It has turned from black to greenish black and become less defined. I don't know why though. Maybe it has something to do with diet? Or maybe it just becomes less defined as they get older? I can't figure it out.
