i wonder if they will develop any coloring or remain this greenish grey? Since they are survivors, they have been named! I was texting my sister in Alaska to bring out some creativity from me to help give them unique, no-gender specific names. Winthorpe, Cone and Snots. Lmao. I'm quite fond of the names hahaha. They put a smile on my face.

Winthorpe is of course the most spotty one. Snots is thr mild spotty one and Cone is the lesser spotty one of the three :3

Lol those names made me laugh too especially winthorpe! They could change and lose the spots or gain more colour. They are very unique looking.

Ok everybody! Put on your shades/sunglasses/lady peepers! Here's my new fry tank!

Wow that's lovely! I love the red crystals really set the tank off!

Soooo...uhmmmm....yea. I HAD 6 new fry and 3 slightly older fry in my fry tank. Come home to fine 3 newer fry and 1 slighly older fry. I did a water change yesterday. Ill test the water and get back the redults soon.... they have been fine for 4 days so I don't think the fikter got them. ..no sign of them. Looked thru plants and filter....sigh

Oh no that's a shame. Did you put old media into your new tank?

Yeah I did. Sponge from the 50 and biomax from the 29. All tanks are the same but new tank is 0ammo 0nitrite and not quite 20 but above 0 nitrate. Only 4 fry confirmed left :(.

Found 2 fry in 50 gallon tho...

Holy cow. I'd say my new tank is definitely cycled....I just tested the ammonia from the tap water and its just about 2.0....I have no idea why FIVE FRY DISAPPEARED. :,(

Aww that's awful, I really feel for you :(

I decided to not obsess over my little fish friends because everytime I did, also everytime I named some, they would disappear. It sucked. Everytime no matter how old. Weird.

Anyways I have at least one new high fin in the fry tank :))) soon to be big enoufh for the adult high fin tank. It's a lovely orange tinted fry.

Here are some before and afters of my beloved high fin. From fry to adulthood!

Here's, not a high fin, but a rather unusual looking platy fry. Spots and stripes on the rear tail only and some spots on body. Sry for pic quality :3

Look at this beauty! Its a female! Woohoo! I'm keeping her in the fry tank until I use it to breed her. I've got 3 high fin fry about her size. They just keep coming and they are gorgeous.

My original stock from 1.5 years ago is slowly dwindling down :(. The origibal alpha male brutus is gone and his rival shere'khan is barely frisking the females and has let the younger two males take over.

Aurora is getting old and her spine is a bit more rounded then usual and nobody is trying for her anymore even tho she used to be a hot ropic. I hate seeing them get old :(

Skokie the mom of all of my precious high fins is also starting to bottom out. Tho she isn't getting boney or mis-shapen she is definitely looking older. I can just tell. Luckily one of her offspring looks exactly like her when I originally bought her. So at least there's that.

As the world turns....
Sorry for the long lapse in posting/updates but when I was rabidly posting about all my fry they were just disappearing or not surviving and o got all supersticious! And now I am even more that I ended up with this gorgeous above posted fry! Haha

Here are pics of all three newer beautiful platy high fin fry! The orange one I mived to the adult tank too soon and during an algae wafer bonanza her tail got nipped. Shes almost back to 100 percent but I'm posting the pics of her damaged and bettee.

With some luck and a better breeding regime this big girl gave birth to 24 fry!

Look at that cute square mouth and the black spot on her back. So cute.

What I did was move her from the 50 gallon and placed her in the 10 gallon by herself. After she gave birth and rested some, I moved her to the 50 gallon and so far all 24 are still alive and doing very well. At least one high fin. They are about to be moved to the 50 gallon at 3 weeks. Look at those colors! I can't wait to see them keep growing!
