Can anyone help. My friend has given me a Canna Lilly and said put it in my tropical fish tank (because heā€™s got two in his) I want to know is this safe? Heā€™s had no problems but Iā€™m not sure. Anyone know? Cheers

we have canna lilies growing in wetland areas around Perth, but they get too big for the average aquarium and they are only in shallow water for 4-5months. The rest of the time they are in dry sand.
Theoretically they should be safe but I think they get too big for an average sized tank. And any leaves that are completely submersed will probably rot.

Agree, this is not really advisable. Similar to iris in growing in marshy areas, leaves (and flowers) must be above the water surface. And a rotting plant can pollute and kill fish when it is something like this.

Thank you for the advice... thought it shouldnā€™t go in
