for ages now i keep expecting her to drop but no sign yet although the past 2 days shes been behind one of the big pots ive got in the tank and im thinking she may just be planning on where to have her fry, i'll keep you informed

Hiding away is a good sign that she is likely to drop soon. Just leave her alone for a while and keep the lights off. You might be frightening her.

My balloon Mollies looked like that for weeks and then one I found 1 fry and that was it! Then last weekend she bursted out with 10 fry and so far 7 have survived.
