Identifying Gourami

Mine tries to leap out of the water at least once a day, not out of the tank, just out of the water. He must feel very angry that he didn't succeed, since he turns black when he reenters the water. He'll reach out to me if I touch the glass with his little arms, but mostly he chills out in a shady area of the tank. Sometimes he'll get spooked if I suddenly jump up.
