Hiya, I have a 330 litre tank

I currently have
27 tetra
10 discus (currently young)
7 Cory's
2 plecos
6 gouramis

Would it be possible to get anymore discus? Or smaller fish/Cory's tetra etc

And how many

Filteration is 4,350lph

Has 5 plants

Thankyou x

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

What are the tank dimensions (Length x width x height)?

What sort of tetra, plecos and gouramis do you have in the tank?

Discus get big and are territorial when mature, do you plan on getting a bigger tank later on or were you hoping to keep them all?

Thankyou!

The tank is 4ft long by 3ft high and 2ft from front to back

The plecos are
Golden bristlenose
Ancistrus bristlenose

Gouramis
Pair of dwarf blue
2 opaline (not dwarfs )
2 golden ( not dwarfs )

12 cardinal tetra
10 neon tetra
5 penguin tetra

Filters
Fluval U5 - 1000lph - internal
Internal 1850lph with UV
External all pond ef2+ with UV
And a the biggest all pond sponge filter booster canister

The tank has a hood filteration system but I'm not using it but could always get it up and running

The dimensions given in post #3 do not co-relate to the 330 liters (= 87 gallons) in post #1. The volume would be closer to 681 liters/180 gallons if the dimensions are accurate.

Be careful of the opaline and golden gourami. Both are the species Trichopodus trichopterus which is about the most aggressive of the medium gourami. Males especially, but other forum members have had a lone female kill other species in the tank. And before it is said, the apparent harmony so far can suddenly change literally overnight.

There is also a temperature issue with the present fish species. Discus need warmth, 82F/27C is minimum. Neon tetras will slowly weaken at this high a temperature, they are best in the mid 70'sF (25-26C). Same holds for cories except for a very few species but even the cory authorities do not recommend these with discus because of the temperature.

If the tank is 4ft long x 2ft wide x 3 ft high, it is not big enough for 10 adult discus. If you keep the discus to maturity, you could keep 1 mature adult pr in the tank and the others should be moved into other tanks.

Dwarf gouramis (Trichogaster lalius) should not really be kept with discus due to the diseases the gouramis can carry. There are two main diseases, the Iridovirus and Tuberculosis (TB), both of which can affect other fish. If your gouramis have either of these diseases the discus could pick them up. Neither disease is curable. Hopefully the gouramis you have are free of these diseases.
