How Long Does A Platy Take To Give Birth?

Hi,

If you read my previous post my platy gave birth earlier but it is still shaking at the bottom as though it is still giving birth (unable to witness the birth). I was wondering how long a fish takes to give birth to all her fry.

The majority of fry are delivered in the first few hours, but I've seen fry come out for the following 24 hours. Give it some time. She should be finished within 24 hours.

It takes up to 24 hours

my 3 took between 4 and 12 hours last night to drop all fry
my guppy last night took 10 hours of slow uncomfortable labour
