Hi, i used to take my water from my tank to get tested by my supplier, but now i have invested in an API freshwater master test kit. I have used it to test my two tanks and my tap water. I felt like a scientist (im very easily amused) haha. But i noticed that i have high nitrates in my tap water. I guess that the place were i used to get my water tested didnt pick this up or let me know. I know what nitrates can cause. Doing water changes isnt going to help my nitrate levels as they are the same as in my tap water.

It is just my nitrates that is the problem. Everything else is perfect.

So is there anything else that can lower my nitrates?
I have been recommended API Nitra-Zorbe. Has anybody used this successfully?

Rebecca :)

What exactly is the nitrate level?

Just remember that nitrate kits are so inaccurate as to be useless in many cases.

Agree with TTA, as usual, but 40ppm is really nothing to worry about anyway.

Do you have live plants? Fast growing ones will reduce nitrate a bit, if you have enough.

Ok thankyou. In my tank its a slight bit more but it isnt quite the right match for the higher one. No i dont have any live plants but im beginning the conversion to live soon.

That will help :)
