we have a goldfish who was in our outside pond. It has clearish-whitish stuff coming out of the side near its tail. It looked bloated and then this started coming out. Anyone know what it could be?? Pictures attached.....

It could be a type of fungus or mold. Was it furry?

Hi--Not furry. It almost looks like there is a hole in its side where it is coming out. It looks better today and she is eating.....so weird. I've never seen anything like it.

I actually have no idea what it is. I've researched and it may be a bacterial infection which sometimes goes away quickly.

I've been keeping goldfish most of my life, and I've never seen anything like that.

All I can suggest is that you treat it with a broad medication; something like Esha 2000, which treats fungal and bacterial infections, keep the water very, very clean and hope for the best.

It doesn't look good though, I feel I ought to warn you that you might well lose those little guy :(
