My chocolate Pleco looks like this I'm not convinced it's ick I really thought it could be ammonia but my reading is 0.25 and none of my other Plecos are effected ,I know there is to bend amonia and will be doing a water change , but could this be something else ??

I wouldn't use salt; plecs don't tolerate it at all well.

I'd keep doing some large water changes for a couple of days and use an anti bacterial medication as soon as you can get one. Check the instructions carefully in case you need to use a half dose for catfish.

To each her own, ive used aquarium salt in moderation for over 30 years with no ill effects what-so-ever, and avoid most other chemicals in my tanks, period. But a title under your name sometimes makes you an expert. :)

This is pointless, its a commercial rip off lmao

Anyway about the pleco could you give us exact tank parameters, size, conditions, WC schedule?
You have bad water quality I can see already if you have ammonia period. ammonia in a tank should Always be 0ppm if anything higher you haven't cycled your tank or its overstocked.
