I went to my LFS today and picked up an elephant nose I had been thinking about getting for a while. He was shy and I could not get a good look at him in the tank and then they double bagged him and I failed to see that his tail seems *really* *really* damaged, as if eaten down to a nub. My question is: wil he be ok in a 5.5 gallon hospital tank with a dwarf gourami? The gourami has a mouth wound from a fight. I have had him on melafix for a week, so that is in the water, which I am not sure an elephant nose can handle....

Any advice on how to handle it? The LFS has closed for the night.... so taking him immediately back is not an option this evening.

Sorry to say he did not make it... died at about the 30 hour mark.

can you not take him back to the LFS and get a refund?

Sorry for your loss. R.I.P.

I can't believe they sold you that elephant nose and didn't have him in a seperate tank medicating him, I used to have one, and they have them at my LFS. The one in your pic colorwise looks nothing like the ones I have seen. Such a shame, sorry for your loss.
