Hi, my name is Angi, I'm new to the hobby and wanting to share pics and gain some knowledge.
I have a 30ish gallon freshwater, community tank with a Tetra Whisper 30 Filter and a heater set at 78 degrees. I think I need more filtration too, so will be looking into that.
I have 6 Guppies, 6 Glofish, 5 Glo-light Tetra, 5 Neon Tetra, 2 Peppered & 2 Emerald Green Cory Cats, 2 Dwarf Gourami, 1 Albino Bristlenose Pleco, 1 Red Cherry Shrimp and various snails... 1 Nerite, 2 Mystery? and 2 red ones with black spots (not sure what they're called). I also have probably 6 or 7 live plants.
It's hard to say what my favorites are but I really like my cory's, gouramis, pleco and snails. Lol, 2 of the snails are having a love affair, they're fun to watch interact. The gold one I know is a Mystery snail and the white one I think is one too, but not sure. I'm wondering if they're gonna make some baby snails soon, that would be cool!
My tank is pretty full and after some trial and error, my fish seem happy so I won't be adding any more for awhile, but I'd like about 3 more shrimp to keep my other little guy from being lonely.
My dream fish would probably be a pygmy puffer, they are so cute and full of personality!
So now for a couple of questions...
My tank is cycled and water parameters are good but the PH is really low, around 6.0. I'm wondering if it's worth it to raise it up some with a product, or leave it alone.
Also, I have a guppy whose tail became shredded out of no-where. I've never seen anyone picking on him and I watch closely all the time, so I'm not sure what happened and it doesn't look like an illness to me from what I've read, but then again, I don't have any experience with illnesses.
I did have another guppy die from suspected dropsy recently, and 2 female betta's that just got listless, started hovering at top of tank near the heater, before changing colors.... I came home and found my red one dead, so moved the blue to a hospital tank and treated with Microbe-Lift Herbtana & Artemis for 2 weeks, then blue died too. They seemed healthy and happy before that so I don't know what happened. Any ideas?
25 to 50% weekly water changes
Water temp 78
PH 6
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 5
Other products I use or have used: API master test kit, API stress coat, Microbe-Lift Special Blend & Nite Out (at beginning of cycle) Seachem Prime, Excel, Trace, & Flourish.
Foods are tropical flakes, some kind of sinking pellets, freeze dried insect larva and blood worms and shrimp and algae tabs.
Good to be here and thanks in advance!
