hi
i started a fish in cycle two week ago, and have been testing water and doing water changes daily depending on results, usually between 25 and 50 %

ammonia has remained at 0.25
nitrites - none showing at the moment
and nitrates 5 ppm
temp 29oC (suggested to help treat ich)

although i have been treating the fish for ich and am lead to believe this could have an effect.

is something going wrong? if not when am i likely to see nitrite?

any help would be greatfully recieved
regards
Paul

Hi Alien

I have completed a fish IN cycle recently and it took me about 3 weeks before I started to see my ammonia drop and Nitrites rise. Keep up with the water changes as to keep the ammonia from rising above 0.25 and you'll soon start to see Nitrites. It took another couple of weeks before my nitrites dropped off.

Not sure if the meds could affect the growth of bacteria, hopefully someone else could comment on that.

Final thought - Are you using decholinator when changing water?, if not, the cholrine would affect your ammonia munching bacteria.
