Hi all, :D
I have a few pairs of Firemouths and plenty of spare tanks.
I would like to start to breed them, is this a real chance?
Can someone help me off in the right direction?

Many thanks

PS

How many firemouths do you have and what size tanks do you have. IMO, I'd start out with 6-8 juveniles in no less than a 29 gallon tank. However I would like to add I've recently been finding that even 29's are too small and would personally go with a 30 gallon (36" x 12" x 17"). anyway, add about 8-10 platys or mollies and a bristlenose pleco and let nature take it's course. ;)

also, keep an eye on the platys/mollies as the firemouths start to get bigger. having these livebearers around will do wonders for juvenile firemouths, but they may start to get picked on as the fm's grow. there is also the chance the platys/mollies will be fine, especially if the fm's are very young (1" ish) when introduced with the platys/mollies. Just keep an eye out. :D

also baby platies/mollies make nice treats to growing cichlids!
shouldn't bother adults tho...

have problems gettin females for some reason round here?
