Hi all i bought a new filter and Im finding it to powerful for my tank is there any way i can reduce the flow rate in it

Is it an external?

You can add more media to the filter, filter floss is usually the best for slowing flow down. You could direct the flow towards the glass or place something infront of it, either a rock or some wood etc.

If it is an external with a spray bar then try drilling the holes out a little. Often taking the spray bar off will increase the actual flow from the filter but reduce the intensity as it is not being blasted through a tiny pin hole.

Hope that helps.

Its internal with spray bar i thought about drilling out the spray bar but thought i was being stupid lol thanks for the info

Try removing it first, that might be enough. Add some more filter floss also, that will slow it down. :)

Tried removing the spray bar and its worse lol . just made the holes bigger in the bar and its spot on thank you
