Hi!
I was wondering about Betta’s eye colors today.
My Betta Aztec has blue and red eyes, and my other Betta Polaris has gold eyes.
Are some eye colors on fish more unusual or rare than others?
Thanks!

I'm no expert on Betta eye color, nor am I an expert in genetics but I assume there is some connection between the colour of the Betta and their eye colour. The most common eye colours I have seen in Betta's is dark coloured - either black or blue. I've also seen Betta's which are heterochromic (either each eye is a different colour or one eye is multiple colours), and I think that type of colouring is more rare.

Thanks!
My fish are really unique in my opinion and I’d never seen fish with such cool eyes in person!
Thanks for your response!

No problem!
I actually really enjoy studying genetics, but Betta's are a bit difficult to breed so I normally stick to live bearers like guppies. But if I could figure out a system I would certainly add Betta's breeding. They have such personalities and the colours they come in are stunning!

Hi!
I agree!
Although I’ve never bred bettas, I think every fish is unique and beautiful in their own individual ways.
Bettas were actually my first fish I could take care of on my own! :)

Btw, your profile picture is beautiful. Is it your own fish?
