That Sagittaria is much what mine did, I put that down to insufficient light. The chain swords are a good alternative, there is the small pygmy chain sword, Helanthium tenellum [used to be classified as Echinodorus tenellus] and the larger but otherwise identical H. bolivianum [Echinodorus quadricostatus]. I have this in several tanks, and once it gets settled it spreads rapidly to the point I have to regularly cut off runners to prevent it choking the tank. Couple of photos below. The 40g is the larger species. The 70g has a couple of the pygmy species on the left of centre [not a good photo but you can see the plant].
