I've had this fish for a little over 3 years, he seems to have dropsy but is swimming well, and getting to the surface just fine. Can anyone help diagnose this or give me some suggestions?

Also, I've tried feeding peas but he's not interested.

Look at him from the top, do his scales stick out away from his body in a pine cone shape? This is a clear sign of dropsy and it is most often fatal. How much do you feed him, how often, and what food do you use? It also wouldn't hurt to list your water parameters for us. Nitrate, Nitrite, ammonia, Ph, and alkalinity.

Stop trying to feed him pea, if you want to try a laxative try Daphnia.

Way more information is needed.
How much are you feeding him?
What are you feeding him.
Have you tried fasting him for a few days?

Now the important bit.
Can you please take a photo of the fish from the top looking down and post it, try to get a close up, I need to see if there is any pine coning.

A photo like this.
