Hello, I have a beta named Freddy ( girl) and a corydora named Frank ( plaetus). They both get along very well but I am worried Frank is lonely so I was going to get another Corydora. Does it matter if I get a male or female or a different kind of corydora? Thank you so much!

Corydoras need to be in groups of at least 5. Before you rush out and buy more ...
  1. How big is your tank
  2. What do you use as substrate (Corys need sand and gravel will damage their barbels in the long term.
  3. How hard is your water? (What is the reading for GH - we need a number and the unit. If you don't have a test kit this should be on your water suppliers website).
I assume you meant corydoras paleatus or pepper cory. You can read more about them here. https://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/corydoras-paleatus/

I do keep these. I had only one and introduced it to another group of a different type of cory. It would not socialise with these at all and just hid in a corner. When I bought another 4 it immediately joined these and once it realised it was in a secure group all of the cories hang out together now - so if you do decide to keep it I would get more of the same - but only if your tank is suitable.

Thank you so much! My tank is 25 gallons and I have a sand substrate. Frank will be very happy that he has more friends, thank you again! So if I get another girl or boy does it matter? or will they breed?

Corydoras are not picky about gender ratios, as far as I know. TThey are often found schooling in the hundreds in the wild, though.
I know it's not practical to keep that many, but this is just to illustrate that they really prefer large groups, at least 6 being best. The more you have, the less timid they will be.
Sand substrates are a big hit with Corys, by the way.
